Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn: History, Art, and Nature in One Place

Green-Wood Cemetery, spanning 478 acres in Brooklyn, is a serene blend of history, nature, and art. Founded in 1838, it holds the highest point in Brooklyn—Battle Hill—where Revolutionary War echoes still linger. Just downhill from the main entrance stands the jewel-like Green-Wood Chapel, a neo-Gothic landmark built in 1913 and recently restored to showcase its intricate stonework and stained glass.

El Cementerio Green-Wood, que abarca 478 acres en Brooklyn, es una mezcla serena de historia, naturaleza y arte. Fundado en 1838, alberga el punto más alto de Brooklyn—Battle Hill—donde aún resuenan ecos de la Guerra Revolucionaria. Justo cuesta abajo desde la entrada principal se encuentra la capilla Green-Wood, una joya neogótica construida en 1913 y restaurada recientemente para resaltar su intrincada piedra tallada y vitrales.
