After a long, quiet walk through the winding hills of Green-Wood Cemetery, stepping into the Historic Chapel offers a moment of profound pause. Inside, Laura Anderson Barbata’s Reposo y Recuerdo ofrenda transforms the grand space into a warm sanctuary. Resting in one of the handwoven artisan hammocks under cascading paper marigolds and colorful papel picado, I took a few minutes just to breathe and reflect. Watching visitors leave handwritten notes and personal mementos on the altar made the experience feel deeply comforting. It was a peaceful reminder of connection, memory, and rest.
